Kitzinger Oechsle Scale, no thermometer

The Kitzinger Oechsle Scale with no thermometer is used to determine the weight of sugar solutions, especially sweet grape, fruit and fruit juices as well as mash filtrates. The Oechsle scale is a spindle. The measured value can be read off the scale of the measuring spindle at the point of intersection with the liquid. If the temperature differs significantly from 20° C, it's necessary to correct the measured Oechsle reading, adding degrees Oechsle at temperatures above 20° C and subtracting degrees Oechsle at temperatures below 20° C (for a 4° C deviation, 1° C Oechsle is added or subtracted).
